Aimee Timms
Qualified Therapist
Aimee is a qualified psychodynamic therapist and member of UKCP who holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling from The University of Brighton. She is currently engaged in an MSc in Psychotherapy to deepen her expertise and pursue her research interests.
At The Therapy Clinic, she primarily offers open-ended therapy to a wide range of people with emotional issues such as depression, bereavement, anxiety, self-harm and relationship issues, however, she additionally has considerable experience of providing short-term counselling. As a psychodynamic therapist, her work often involves returning to – and reflecting on – past experiences in order to move beyond them with a core belief that our early life experiences can shape the way we form relationships throughout our lives.
Prior to training, during an early career in children’s publishing, she fostered an interest in childhood development and the primary emotional and attachment experiences that define our early lives. This was followed by a decade as a qualitative researcher in the strategic design and innovation industry, spent having hundreds of conversations with people from a huge range of countries, cultures and circumstances about the things that mattered to them.
Each person’s path to therapy – and towards self-acceptance and change in their lives – is different, but she believes that therapy can be an enriching, creative relationship for everyone. Aimee strives to create a space where people can explore, think about – and even reconsider – the stories that they tell about themselves.
